Our Inspiring Journey & Story.
The vision for the Doksa Empowerment Outreach Foundation was birthed in the hearts of Richard and Dr. Judith Katende, a compassionate couple in Nansana, a town in Central Uganda.
Richard's journey began in a struggling family as the second of four children. Facing hardships like severe beatings, hunger, and homelessness, he encountered a turning point in 2001 during a gospel event at Mityana Full Gospel Church. Mr. Irvine James Carcary (Papa) and Chris (Mama) embraced Richard as their son, offering unwavering love, support, and education.
Papa's influence, along with support from individuals like Frances Adams, had an immeasurable impact, guiding Richard to education and life lessons. Papa's fatherly love filled a void left by Richard's biological parents, leading him to share his life story with his wife, Judith. Despite their challenging backgrounds, they realized they were alive and thriving.
Inspired by their experiences, they envisioned the Doksa Empowerment Outreach, dedicated to empowering children with cerebral palsy, orphans, and children of incarcerated parents.
Dr. Judith Katende's journey began in a family of seven, facing challenges after her father's passing in 2012 due to a misdiagnosed medical condition. Inspired by this loss, she pursued medicine to improve the healthcare system. Despite financial struggles, she successfully entered Gulu University for medicine.
During her pediatrics rotation, Judith witnessed the hardships of children with cerebral palsy, noting the emotional, financial, and social impact on families. This experience fueled her passion to establish the Doksa Empowerment Outreach Foundation to support families affected by cerebral palsy and orphans striving for education and basic needs in Uganda.
As their mission unfolds, the Katendes recognize the collective effort needed to positively impact these children's lives. They emphasize the importance of teamwork in making dreams come true. The Doksa Children's Home Family in Uganda stands as a testament to this collective effort, providing a loving, safe, and nurturing environment for children to thrive and develop to their full potential.
Join us in our journey to make a difference. Your support contributes to the realization of our vision. Together, we can empower children, provide education, and create a brighter future.
